from the effects of excess heat, moisture, smoke damage and accidental
damage..
Fire is one of the most serious threats to the security of even the best run
organisation. In 1988 1,535 New Zealand businesses suffered from a major
fire.
A computer can be replaced, the information can't.
The solution lies in the purpose built single door data cabinet range
manufactured by Chubb.
Chubb Data Cabinets protect computer media from fire, dust, magnetic fields
and accidental damage/whilst at the same time providing the size variation
and media storage capacity to ensure every business need is catered for.
A high level of fire protection is provided through a multilayer
construction contained within the tough steel casing of both the body and
the door. The construction, incorporating layers of heat absorbing
material, insulating foam and water bearing fire proofing, is designed to
limit internal temperatures to no more than 52°C after exposure to a severe
fire. Vent plugs positioned around the body allow the escape of steam from
the cabinet as the temperature rises. A plinth is welded to the base of the
body for maximum energy absorption if the floor of a
building collapses during a fire.
The body and door closures have special thermal breaks in their construction
designed to reduce the ingress of heat. An intumescent strip is fitted to
all four sides of the body's face which swells during a fire, further
sealing the clearances around the door. The door is connected to a casing
which incorporates the locking mechanism. This ensures the closure is kept
shut during a fire, or if the cabinet falls.
