The Chubb Fire Resistant Filing Cabinets were designed to protect paper
documents from the devastating effects of a fire.
Two models were produced, the 8303 three drawer and the 9103 single drawer.
It only takes a few minutes for a
fire to destroy a business. The
first item to bum is paper. And since most businesses are built on paper-
work, a fire generally means you can say goodbye to your business. That is,
unless you've had the foresight to choose Chubb Record Protection files. It
only takes 177 degrees Celsius (350 degrees F) to char or ignite paper, so
the light construction of conventional files is no protection at all against
fire — and contrary to popular belief, no flame contact is required before
paper is destroyed.
Chubb files are constructed so that the internal temperature remains below
the critical 177 degrees C, even though the external temperature may be a
searing 925 degrees C (1697 degrees F) or thereabouts.
And if that's not enough, this amazing file is designed to withstand damage
after a fall of nine metres on to building rubble — a fall that would be
consistent with collapsing floors. The whole file is insulated with two
inches of Chubb tested and certified fire resistant material, which will not
deteriorate with age. The three-drawer file's insulation encloses all three
drawers individually, creating three separate fire resisting chambers and
affording much greater protection.
Tongue and groove closure: This type of fitment between the body and the
drawer front prevents flame from penetrating.
Drawer slides: The special Chubb suspension slides with nylon roller action
have been constructed to give many years of silent service. The double
action slides allow each drawer to be pulled clear of the body enabling you
to make full usage of the drawer space.
Locking: Each drawer of the Record Protection file has a single point spring
day catch which immediately secures it after it has been shut Locking can be
controlled by one or more key locks giving several
alternatives of individual or combined controls.
The single
drawer file can be mounted on an optional 12" high stand.
